New York City 494 300x199 POSITIVE PARENTING: MERRY CHRISTMAS !!The time has come again to put up the Christmas tree and find hiding places for the toys.  This is the first year that my 5 year old is  aware of what the holiday means.  Since October he’s been showing his mom and I every toy that he sees in the catalogs we receive.  I haven’t told him about who really is Santa ( check out my 12/6 post).  Next year he’ll have a better understanding about himself and be more receptive to what I have to say.  My other kids are all big so hiding things is not as important.  The grand kids are way too young ( 2are 2, 2 aren’t 1 yet), so getting things for them should be easy.

Today I’m very grateful to be able to celebrate another Christmas.  The weather acted great. Here in New York we got 10″ of snow and  I think that we will get another inch by Christmas day.

I want to wish a Merry Christmas to all the men and women in the armed forces who won’t be able to be with their families this year.  Lately we have been focusing on those in Afghanistan and Iraq.  We should not forget those who are in other parts of the world.   Places like Korea, Europe, Japan, Turkey, the Persian Gulf.  Just to name a few.  There are 737 American military bases around the world.  Each one who is stationed at these bases is there protecting our freedoms.  Since there hasn’t been a draft since the 1970’s, each one is there because they want to be.  Their service makes it possible for me to write what I want in this blog and for you to read this blog or any other blog without having to look over our shoulders and be afraid that our freedom to choose will be taken away.

Thank you and  Merry Christmas to all who serve.  Your service allows me to focus on being a dad.

Vote in my Christmas poll.
